Terms of Use

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Smart Printer & Scanner (formerly True Scanner; "Smart Printer & Scanner" or the "app"), the iPhone and iPad app provided by TechSmart LLC ("we", "us", or "our"). By downloading, installing, or using the app, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not download or use the app.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Smart Printer & Scanner, you accept these Terms in full and agree to comply with all applicable laws and regulations. These Terms form a binding agreement between you and TechSmart LLC. If you are using the app on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have the authority to bind that organization to these Terms. To use the app, you must be of the age of majority in your jurisdiction, or have the consent of a parent or legal guardian. If you do not accept these Terms, you may not use the app.

2. License to Use the App

Subject to your compliance with these Terms, we grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, and revocable license to download and use Smart Printer & Scanner on Apple devices that you own or control, for your own personal or internal business purposes. This license does not transfer any ownership rights to you.

You agree that you will not, and will not permit any third party to:

• copy, modify, adapt, translate, or create derivative works of the app, except as expressly permitted by law;
• reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or otherwise attempt to derive the source code of the app;
• rent, lease, lend, sell, sublicense, redistribute, or otherwise commercially exploit the app or any part of it;
• remove, obscure, or alter any proprietary notices, labels, or marks in the app;
• interfere with or circumvent any security, licensing, subscription, or usage-limit features of the app;
• use the app for any unlawful purpose or in any way that violates these Terms or the rights of others.

All rights not expressly granted to you are reserved by us and our licensors.

3. PRO Subscriptions & Purchases

Smart Printer & Scanner is free to download. Scanning documents and QR codes, reading files, and organizing your library are available for free, and the app can help you find your printer before you upgrade. Other features are part of PRO, an optional upgrade you can buy in the app. PRO currently includes printing your documents, photos, text and scans; sharing and exporting documents; text recognition (OCR); printer status (such as ink or toner levels, paper, alerts, and print jobs); and an ad-free experience. The features included in the free version and in PRO may change as the app evolves; the paywall in the app shows what is included at the time you buy.

PRO is offered as auto-renewable subscriptions (for example, weekly, monthly, or yearly plans) and, where available, as a one-time lifetime purchase. All purchases are made with your Apple Account and processed by Apple through the App Store. We never receive or store your card or payment details.

Auto-renewable subscription disclosure

• PRO subscriptions unlock PRO features and remove ads for as long as your subscription is active.
• When a free trial is offered, it automatically converts to a paid subscription unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends.
• Payment is charged to your Apple Account upon confirmation of purchase (or when a free trial ends).
• The subscription automatically renews unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
• Your Apple Account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the end of the current period, at the price of your selected plan.
• Prices and available plans are shown in the app and may vary by country and currency.
• You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time in your device’s Settings ▸ [your name] ▸ Subscriptions.
• Any unused portion of a free trial is forfeited when you purchase a subscription. Refunds, where applicable, are handled by Apple in accordance with its policies.

Canceling stops future renewals but does not refund the current period, and you keep PRO access until the end of the period you have already paid for. A lifetime purchase is a single payment that does not renew. You can restore previous purchases on a new device signed in to the same Apple Account by tapping Restore in the app.

Because purchases are processed by Apple, they are also subject to Apple’s terms. Please review Apple’s standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement and the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions.

4. Printing & Printers

Compatibility. The app prints to AirPrint printers that are reachable on the same local network as your device, using Apple’s printing system. We do not make printers, and the app is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any printer manufacturer. We do not guarantee that the app will find, connect to, or print on any particular printer, network, or configuration — for example, printers that do not support AirPrint, guest or public Wi‑Fi networks, or networks that keep devices from seeing each other.

Print results. Print quality, color, margins, paper handling, double-sided printing, and speed depend on your printer, its settings and firmware, and the paper, ink, or toner you use. Please check the preview before you print. You are responsible for the paper, ink, toner, and other supplies you use, including for test pages and for jobs you cancel.

Printer status. Information such as ink or toner levels, paper, alerts, and print jobs is reported by the printer itself. Not every printer reports it, and what is reported may be incomplete, delayed, or approximate. Please do not rely on it as your only source of information — for example, before ordering supplies.

Printers you use. Only print to, check, or manage printers you are allowed to use, and follow the rules of your organization on shared or office networks. The app can cancel print jobs sent from your device; it is not a tool for managing other people’s print jobs.

Setup help. The troubleshooting and setup guidance in the app — for example, how to share a USB printer from a computer — is provided for convenience. Please also follow the instructions from the makers of your printer, computer, and network equipment. If you open a printer’s own settings page from the app, any changes you make there are made directly on your printer, and we are not responsible for them.

5. Your Documents, Scans & Printouts

Smart Printer & Scanner lets you scan, import, create, and print documents, photos, and text. You are solely responsible for the material you scan, import, type, or print, and for the documents you create from it.

You represent and warrant that you own, or have all necessary rights, licenses, and permissions to, any material you scan, import, or print with the app, and that scanning, storing, recognizing, signing, exporting, sharing, or printing it does not infringe the copyright, trademark, privacy, confidentiality, or other rights of any third party.

Your documents, scans, recognized text, and signatures are processed and stored on your device (and, if you turn on iCloud sync, in your own iCloud account). What you print is sent from your device to your printer over your local network. We do not claim ownership of your content and do not upload or access it. You are responsible for keeping your own backups; while iCloud sync can help, we are not responsible for any loss of documents.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree to use Smart Printer & Scanner responsibly and lawfully. You must not use the app to:

• infringe the intellectual property, privacy, or confidentiality rights of any person or organization;
• scan, create, print, transmit, or distribute illegal, fraudulent, obscene, defamatory, or infringing content;
• counterfeit currency, identity documents, tickets, or other official documents, or forge signatures or alter documents in order to deceive or defraud anyone;
• access, use, or interfere with printers, networks, or devices that you are not authorized to use;
• harass, threaten, or abuse any person;
• interfere with, disrupt, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to the app, our servers, or any systems or networks connected to the service;
• introduce viruses, malware, or any other harmful code.

You are solely responsible for the content you scan, create, share, or print with the app and for making sure your use complies with all applicable laws.

7. Intellectual Property

The app, including its software, user interface, design, graphics, text, and other content (excluding content you create), is owned by us or our licensors and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. Nothing in these Terms grants you any right to use our trademarks, logos, or brand features without our prior written permission.

Apple, AirPrint, iCloud, iPhone, and iPad are trademarks of Apple Inc., registered in the U.S. and other countries. Printer names and other product names shown in the app are the property of their respective owners and are shown only to identify devices on your network.

8. Third-Party Services & Ads

Smart Printer & Scanner relies on services provided by third parties, including Apple (App Store purchases, printing, and optional iCloud sync), Google (Firebase analytics, crash reporting, and remote configuration; AdMob advertising; and advertising measurement), and Meta (advertising measurement). Free users may see ads. Access to your device’s advertising identifier follows the choice you make in Apple’s App Tracking Transparency prompt, as described in our Privacy Policy.

These third-party services are governed by their own terms and privacy policies, over which we have no control. We are not responsible for the availability, content, accuracy, or practices of any third-party service, website, or advertisement, and your interactions with third parties are solely between you and them.

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

The app is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including without limitation any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure, or that defects will be corrected.

Printer discovery, printing, printer status, text recognition (OCR), edge detection, filters, and other automated features are provided on a best-effort basis and may be inaccurate, incomplete, or unavailable for some printers, networks, or documents. You are responsible for reviewing any document, scan, or printout before relying on it — especially for legal, financial, medical, or official purposes. We do not guarantee that any particular printer, document, format, or file will be supported on every device or version of iOS.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, in no event will TechSmart LLC, its affiliates, officers, employees, or licensors be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, documents, goodwill, or other intangible losses, or for wasted paper, ink, toner, or other supplies, or for damage to or malfunction of any printer or other device, arising out of or related to your use of, or inability to use, the app.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, our total aggregate liability for all claims relating to the app shall not exceed the amount you actually paid for the app in the twelve (12) months immediately preceding the event giving rise to the claim. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations of liability, so some of the above limitations may not apply to you; nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless TechSmart LLC and its affiliates, officers, employees, and licensors from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses, including reasonable legal fees, arising out of or in any way connected with your use or misuse of the app, the material you scan, import, or print, the documents you create, your violation of these Terms, your violation of any applicable law, or your infringement of the rights of any third party.

12. Termination

These Terms remain in effect while you use the app. We may suspend or terminate your access to the app, in whole or in part, at any time and without prior notice if you breach these Terms or if we are required to do so by law. Upon termination, the license granted to you under Section 2 ends immediately, and you must stop using and delete the app. Sections that by their nature should survive termination — including those relating to intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification, and governing law — will continue to apply. Termination does not affect any subscription administered by Apple, which you can manage in your device’s Settings ▸ [your name] ▸ Subscriptions.

13. Apple App Store Terms

These Terms are between you and TechSmart LLC only, not Apple Inc. ("Apple"). Apple is not responsible for the app or its content, has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for it, and is not responsible for addressing any claims relating to the app, including product liability claims, claims that the app fails to conform to any legal or regulatory requirement, and consumer protection claims. If the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple may refund the purchase price (if any); to the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation with respect to the app. Apple is not responsible for investigating, defending, settling, or discharging any third-party claim that the app or your use of it infringes that third party’s intellectual property rights. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and, once you accept them, may enforce them against you. You represent that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated as a "terrorist supporting" country, and that you are not listed on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time to reflect changes to the app, our practices, or applicable law. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, provide additional notice. Your continued use of the app after the changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree to the updated Terms, you should stop using the app.

15. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Portugal, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. You agree that any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the app shall be submitted to the competent courts of Lisbon, Portugal. This choice of law and forum does not deprive you of the protection afforded by mandatory consumer protection provisions of the country in which you reside.
