Privacy Policy
How QR Scanner Super handles your information — and why the codes and documents you scan stay on your device.
TechSmart LLC ("we," "us," or "our") operates the QR Scanner Super app ("QR Scanner Super," "the app"). This Privacy Policy explains what information the app collects, why we collect it, and the choices you have. By downloading, installing, or using QR Scanner Super, you agree to the practices described here. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
When you scan a QR code, barcode, or document, detection and decoding happen entirely on your device. We do not upload your camera frames, your scan history, the documents you capture, or the codes you create, and we never read the rest of your photo or file library. Your history lives locally in the app until you delete it.
1. Information We Collect
We aim to collect as little as possible. You can use QR Scanner Super's core features — scanning codes, scanning documents, generating QR codes, and browsing your history — without creating an account or giving us any personal information.
Information you provide
Nothing is required to use the app. We only receive information you choose to send us — for example, if you email our support team at [email protected], we will see your email address and whatever you write in your message so we can help you.
Information collected automatically
When you use the app, we and our analytics providers may automatically collect technical and usage information, including your device model, operating system version, app version, device language, coarse in-app usage and analytics events (such as which features you open or how often you scan), crash and diagnostic data, and your approximate region derived from your IP address. This information is used in aggregate to keep the app stable and to understand which features are useful. It does not include the contents of your scans.
Anonymous device identifier
The app uses a device-provided identifier (Apple's Identifier for Vendor) with certain requests — for example, to verify and log your subscription status. We use it only to operate features like subscriptions and to keep our analytics accurate. This identifier is not linked to your name, email, or Apple ID, and is not used to track you across other apps or websites.
Advertising identifier
For free users, our advertising partners may use Apple's Identifier for Advertisers (IDFA) — but only if you grant permission through Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt. If you do not allow tracking, the IDFA is not used to personalize ads, and you will see non-personalized ads instead.
Purchase information
If you upgrade to QR Scanner Super Premium — whether a subscription or the one-time Lifetime purchase — your purchase and entitlement status are processed by Apple through the App Store (StoreKit). We receive confirmation of your Premium status so we can unlock Premium features, but we never receive or store your card number or any payment details — those are handled entirely by Apple.
2. Your Scans, Codes & Documents
QR Scanner Super turns your camera into a code reader and document scanner. When you scan with the camera, the frames are analyzed and decoded on your device using Apple's built-in recognition technology. When you scan a code from a photo, iOS hands the app only the image you pick; the app does not browse, read, or upload the rest of your photo or file library.
The results of your scans — decoded codes, your scan history, the documents you capture as PDFs, and the custom QR codes you create — are saved locally on your device. We do not upload, store, analyze, or share their contents. Deleting an item in the app (or deleting the app itself) removes it from your device, so please keep your own backups of anything important.
Acting on a scan. Some actions naturally leave the app or use system services: opening a scanned link loads that website in your browser, joining a scanned Wi-Fi network passes the network name and password to iOS to make the connection, and saving a contact or calendar event stores it in your device's address book or calendar. In each case the data goes where you direct it — not to our servers.
3. How We Use Information
We use the information described above to: operate, maintain, and improve the app; diagnose and fix crashes and bugs; measure how features are used so we can make them better; process and verify your purchase and unlock Premium features; show ads to free users; and respond to your support requests. We do not use this information to build a profile of you, and we do not access the contents of your scans, documents, or generated codes.
4. Advertising & Tracking
QR Scanner Super is free to download, and free users may see ads. Our advertising partners — Google AdMob and Meta Audience Network — may serve those ads. To support your privacy choices, the app uses Apple's App Tracking Transparency (ATT) framework and obtains consent where required.
If you allow tracking when prompted, ads may be personalized using your advertising identifier. If you decline, you will receive non-personalized ads. You can change your decision at any time in iOS Settings ▸ Privacy & Security ▸ Tracking, where you can also turn off tracking requests entirely. QR Scanner Super Premium users do not see ads at all.
5. Permissions
The app only asks for a permission when a feature needs it, and each one is used solely for the purpose described:
Camera. To scan QR codes, barcodes, and physical documents. The camera is used only while you are scanning, and frames are processed on your device.
Photos (scanning from images). When you choose to scan a code from a photo or import an image, the app receives only the items you pick — it does not gain access to your full library.
Save to Photos. If you choose to save a generated QR code or a scanned document to your photo library, the app requests permission to add it. We do not read your existing photos.
Contacts. Only if you choose to save scanned contact information (such as a vCard QR code) to your address book.
Calendar. Only if you choose to add an event from a scanned QR code to your calendar.
Location. Only if you use location features — for example creating a location-based QR code or viewing scanned map coordinates. Your location is not collected in the background.
Network. The app uses your internet connection to process purchases, run analytics and remote configuration, and (for free users) load ads. Joining a Wi-Fi network from a scanned code uses Apple's hotspot configuration on your device.
Tracking. As described above, the app uses App Tracking Transparency to ask whether advertising may use your IDFA.
6. Third-Party Services
We rely on a small number of trusted service providers, each governed by its own privacy policy:
- Apple (App Store / StoreKit for purchases and subscriptions) — apple.com/legal/privacy
- Google Firebase (analytics, crash reporting, remote configuration) — firebase.google.com/support/privacy
- Google AdMob (advertising for free users) — policies.google.com/privacy
- Meta Audience Network (advertising for free users) — facebook.com/privacy/policy
7. Data Sharing & Selling
We do not sell your personal data for money. However, when free users allow tracking through Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt, we share your advertising identifier (IDFA) with our advertising partners (Google AdMob and Meta Audience Network) so they can show personalized ads. Under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the CPRA, disclosing an advertising identifier for cross-context behavioral advertising is treated as "sharing" — and may be treated as a "sale" — of personal information. Apart from this advertising activity, we share information only with the service providers listed above, and only to the extent needed to operate and improve the service, or where we are legally required to do so, such as to comply with a valid legal request or to protect our rights and the safety of our users. You can opt out of this sharing at any time — see Your Rights below.
8. Data Retention
We keep information only for as long as it is needed for the purposes described in this policy, or as required to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Aggregated and diagnostic data may be retained for analysis. Your scans, history, documents, and generated codes stay on your device until you remove them. When information is no longer needed, we delete or anonymize it.
9. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect the limited information we handle. However, no method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Children's Privacy
QR Scanner Super is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at [email protected] and we will delete it.
11. Your Rights (GDPR / CCPA)
Depending on where you live, you may have rights over your personal information, including the right to access it, to correct it, to request its deletion, and to opt out of personalized advertising. California residents also have the right to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of their personal information ("Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information"). Because our only such sharing is the use of your advertising identifier for personalized ads, you can exercise this right by declining Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt or turning off tracking in iOS Settings ▸ Privacy & Security ▸ Tracking; you will then see only non-personalized ads. To exercise any other right, email us at [email protected] and we will respond in accordance with applicable law. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.
12. International Transfers
We and our service providers may process and store information in countries other than the one in which you live. Where we transfer data internationally, we take steps to ensure appropriate safeguards are in place to protect it, consistent with applicable data protection laws.
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time as the app evolves or as the law requires. When we do, we will revise the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. Significant changes may be highlighted in the app. Your continued use of QR Scanner Super after an update means you accept the revised policy.
