How Ringtone Guru handles your information — and why the media you turn into ringtones stays on your device.
Pro App LLC ("we," "us," or "our") operates the Ringtone Guru app ("Ringtone Guru," "the app"). This Privacy Policy explains what information the app collects, why we collect it, and the choices you have. By downloading, installing, or using Ringtone Guru, you agree to the practices described here. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
When you create a ringtone, you pick a video or audio clip from your library. That clip is trimmed and processed entirely on your device — we do not upload it, copy it to our servers, or read your photo or media library. We never collect the contents of your files. The ringtones you make are stored locally on your device.
1. Information We Collect
We aim to collect as little as possible. You can use Ringtone Guru's core features — browsing, previewing, installing, and making ringtones — without creating an account or giving us any personal information.
Information you provide
Nothing is required to use the app. We only receive information you choose to send us — for example, if you email our support team at [email protected], we will see your email address and whatever you write in your message so we can help you.
Information collected automatically
When you use the app, we and our analytics providers may automatically collect technical and usage information, including your device model, operating system version, app version, device language, coarse in-app usage and analytics events (such as which categories you open or which ringtones you preview), crash and diagnostic data, and your approximate region derived from your IP address. This information is used in aggregate to keep the app stable and to understand which features are useful.
Anonymous device identifier
To keep our catalog counts honest, the app sends a random, app-generated device identifier with certain requests. We use it only to de-duplicate actions like likes, installs, and downloads (so a single device is counted once per ringtone) and to remember your own likes. This identifier is not linked to your name, email, or Apple ID, and is not used to track you across other apps or websites.
Advertising identifier
For free users, our advertising partners may use Apple's Identifier for Advertisers (IDFA) — but only if you grant permission through Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt. If you do not allow tracking, the IDFA is not used to personalize ads, and you will see non-personalized ads instead.
Purchase information
If you subscribe to Ringtone Guru PRO, your purchase and subscription status are processed by Apple through the App Store (StoreKit). We receive confirmation of your subscription status so we can unlock PRO features, but we never receive or store your card number or any payment details — those are handled entirely by Apple.
2. Your Media & Created Ringtones
Ringtone Guru lets you turn a video or audio clip into a personal ringtone. When you choose a clip, iOS hands the app only that single item; the app does not browse, read, or upload the rest of your photo or media library.
The selected clip is trimmed, faded, and converted into a ringtone on your device. The resulting ringtone is saved locally in the app's "My Ringtones." We do not upload, store, analyze, or share your source media or the ringtones you create. Deleting a ringtone in the app removes it from the app.
3. How We Use Information
We use the information described above to: operate, maintain, and improve the app; load and personalize the ringtone catalog; diagnose and fix crashes and bugs; measure how features are used so we can make them better; de-duplicate and display catalog counts (likes, installs, downloads); process and verify your subscription and unlock PRO features; show ads to free users; and respond to your support requests. We do not use this information to build a profile of you, and we do not access the contents of your media.
4. Advertising & Tracking
Ringtone Guru is free to download, and free users may see ads. Our advertising partners — Google AdMob and Meta Audience Network — may serve those ads. To support your privacy choices, the app uses Apple's App Tracking Transparency (ATT) framework.
If you allow tracking when prompted, ads may be personalized using your advertising identifier. If you decline, you will receive non-personalized ads. You can change your decision at any time in iOS Settings ▸ Privacy & Security ▸ Tracking, where you can also turn off tracking requests entirely. Ringtone Guru PRO subscribers do not see ads at all.
5. Permissions
Photos & media (when making a ringtone). When you choose to create a ringtone, the app opens a system picker so you can select a single video or audio clip. The picker runs outside the app, so the app receives only the item you pick and does not gain access to your full library.
Microphone. If the app offers recording and you choose to record audio for a ringtone, iOS will ask for microphone access. This is used only while you are recording, and the recording is processed on your device. You can decline or revoke this in iOS Settings.
Save to Photos. If you choose to save an exported file, the app may request permission to add it to your library. We do not read your existing photos.
Network. The app uses your internet connection to load the ringtone catalog and previews, sync catalog counts, run analytics, process subscriptions, and (for free users) load ads.
Tracking. As described above, the app uses App Tracking Transparency to ask whether advertising may use your IDFA.
6. Third-Party Services
We rely on a small number of trusted service providers, each governed by its own privacy policy:
- Apple (App Store / StoreKit, for purchases and subscriptions) — apple.com/legal/privacy
- Google Firebase (Analytics, Crashlytics, Remote Config) — firebase.google.com/support/privacy
- Google AdMob (advertising for free users) — policies.google.com/privacy
- Meta Audience Network (advertising for free users) — facebook.com/privacy/policy
7. Data Sharing & Selling
We do not sell your personal data. We share information only with the service providers listed above, and only to the extent needed to operate and improve the service — or where we are legally required to do so, such as to comply with a valid legal request or to protect our rights and the safety of our users.
8. Data Retention
We keep information only for as long as it is needed for the purposes described in this policy, or as required to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Aggregated and diagnostic data may be retained for analysis. The ringtones you create and your likes stay on your device until you remove them. When information is no longer needed, we delete or anonymize it.
9. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect the limited information we handle. However, no method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Children's Privacy
Ringtone Guru is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at [email protected] and we will delete it.
11. Your Rights (GDPR / CCPA)
Depending on where you live, you may have rights over your personal information, including the right to access it, to correct it, to request its deletion, and to opt out of personalized advertising. You can opt out of personalized ads at any time through iOS Settings ▸ Privacy & Security ▸ Tracking. To exercise any other right, email us at [email protected] and we will respond in accordance with applicable law. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.
12. International Transfers
We and our service providers may process and store information in countries other than the one in which you live. Where we transfer data internationally, we take steps to ensure appropriate safeguards are in place to protect it, consistent with applicable data protection laws.
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time as the app evolves or as the law requires. When we do, we will revise the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. Significant changes may be highlighted in the app. Your continued use of Ringtone Guru after an update means you accept the revised policy.
