1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using Authenticator App, you accept these Terms in full and agree to comply with all applicable laws and regulations. These Terms form a binding agreement between you and TechSmart LLC. If you are using the app on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have the authority to bind that organization to these Terms. You must be of the age of majority in your jurisdiction, or have the consent of a parent or legal guardian, to use the app. If you do not accept these Terms, you may not use the app.
2. Licence to Use the App
Subject to your compliance with these Terms, we grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, and revocable licence to download and use Authenticator App on Apple devices that you own or control, for your own personal, non-commercial use. This licence does not transfer any ownership rights to you.
You agree that you will not, and will not permit any third party to:
- copy, modify, adapt, translate, or create derivative works of the app, except as expressly permitted by law;
- reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or otherwise attempt to derive the source code of the app;
- rent, lease, lend, sell, sublicense, redistribute, or otherwise commercially exploit the app or any part of it;
- remove, obscure, or alter any proprietary notices, labels, or marks in the app;
- interfere with or circumvent any security, licensing, or usage-limit features of the app;
- use the app for any unlawful purpose or in any way that violates these Terms or the rights of others.
All rights not expressly granted to you are reserved by us and our licensors.
3. Authenticator App PRO — Subscriptions & Lifetime
Authenticator App is free to download, and core two-factor code generation is free to use. Authenticator App PRO is an optional upgrade that unlocks premium features such as automatic iCloud backup & sync, codes on Apple Watch, an unlimited password vault, and unlimited encrypted export. PRO is offered as an auto-renewable subscription (for example, weekly, monthly, and yearly plans) and, where available, as a one-time "Lifetime" purchase that unlocks PRO permanently on your Apple ID without renewing. All purchases are made and managed through your Apple ID, with payments processed by Apple via the App Store (StoreKit). We never receive or store your card or payment details.
Auto-renewable subscription disclosure
- Authenticator App PRO subscriptions are auto-renewable and unlock the PRO features described in the app.
- When a free trial is offered, it automatically converts to a paid subscription unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends.
- Payment is charged to your Apple ID account upon confirmation of purchase.
- The subscription automatically renews unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- Your Apple ID account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the end of the current period, at the rate of your selected plan.
- Prices and available plans (including the Lifetime purchase) are shown in the app and may vary by region and currency.
- You can manage or cancel your subscription anytime in Settings ▸ Apple ID ▸ Subscriptions. The Lifetime purchase is a one-time payment and never renews.
- No refund is given for the unused portion of a paid period once a trial has converted; refunds, where applicable, are handled by Apple in accordance with its policies.
By subscribing to Authenticator App PRO, you acknowledge and agree to the terms set out above. A subscription will continue and renew automatically until you cancel it. If you have started a free trial, the trial will automatically convert into a paid subscription at the standard price for your selected plan unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial period ends. To avoid being charged for the next period, you must turn off auto-renewal at least 24 hours before the current period ends; otherwise your Apple ID will be charged within 24 hours before the renewal date. Cancelling stops future renewals but does not retroactively refund the current period, and you will retain PRO access until the end of the period you have already paid for. You can restore previous purchases, including the Lifetime unlock, with Restore Purchases in the app while signed in to the same Apple ID.
Because purchases are processed by Apple, your use of subscriptions is also subject to Apple's standard terms. Please review Apple's standard End User Licence Agreement (EULA) at apple.com/legal/.../stdeula.
4. Your 2FA Data, Backups & Responsibility
Authenticator App generates industry-standard one-time passwords (TOTP and HOTP) from secrets you add, and can store passwords and notes you choose to save. Your secrets and saved data are encrypted and stored on your device — and, if you enable sync, in your own iCloud account. We operate no server that holds your data and therefore cannot view, reset, or recover your 2FA secrets, codes, or passwords under any circumstances.
You are responsible for your backups. If your device is lost, stolen, damaged, or erased and you have not enabled iCloud sync or kept a current encrypted export, your 2FA secrets cannot be recovered — by you or by us — and you may be permanently locked out of the third-party accounts they protect. Always keep a backup enabled, keep the recovery codes issued by each service when you turn on 2FA, and verify that codes work on a new device before erasing the old one.
You are solely responsible for maintaining the security of your device, passcode, Apple ID, App Lock settings, and any export files and passwords you create. You acknowledge that Authenticator App is an independent utility: it is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or supported by the services you authenticate with, and those services may change their two-factor implementations at any time. Disabling or losing access to two-factor authentication for a given service is a matter between you and that service.
5. Acceptable Use
You agree to use Authenticator App responsibly and lawfully. You must not use the app to:
- access, or attempt to access, accounts or systems that you are not authorized to access, or store secrets obtained unlawfully;
- violate the terms of service of any third-party platform whose accounts you protect;
- infringe the intellectual property, privacy, or confidentiality rights of any person or organization;
- harass, threaten, or abuse any person;
- interfere with, disrupt, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to the app, our systems, or any networks connected to the service;
- introduce viruses, malware, or any other harmful code.
You are solely responsible for the data you store in the app and for ensuring that your use complies with all applicable laws and the rules of any service you use it with.
6. Intellectual Property
The app, including its software, presentation and arrangement of content, user interface, design, graphics, text, and other content (excluding data you store), is owned by us or our licensors and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. Nothing in these Terms grants you any right to use our trademarks, logos, or brand features without our prior written permission. Third-party names and logos displayed next to your accounts belong to their respective owners and are shown solely to help you identify your own accounts.
7. Third-Party Services
Authenticator App relies on services provided by Apple and Google. We use Apple for purchases and subscriptions (StoreKit), optional iCloud sync, and install attribution (AdServices), and Google Firebase for analytics, crash reporting, and remote configuration. The app may also fetch public service logos as described in our Privacy Policy. The app contains no third-party advertising.
These third-party services are governed by their own terms and privacy policies, over which we have no control. We are not responsible for the availability, content, accuracy, or practices of any third-party service — including the services you authenticate with — and your interactions with third parties are solely between you and them.
8. Disclaimer of Warranties
The app is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including without limitation any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure, or that defects will be corrected.
One-time code generation depends on your device's clock being accurate and on the secret provided by each service; codes may be rejected if your device time is wrong or a service changes its configuration. iCloud sync, Apple Watch delivery, QR scanning, and logo lookup are provided on a best-effort basis and depend on Apple's platforms and your network. Two-factor authentication significantly improves account security but no security measure is absolute; we do not warrant that use of the app prevents unauthorized access to your third-party accounts.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, in no event will TechSmart LLC, its affiliates, officers, employees, or licensors be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, secrets, access to third-party accounts, goodwill, or other intangible losses arising out of or related to your use of, or inability to use, the app — including any lockout from third-party accounts resulting from lost devices, missing backups, deleted data, or failed synchronization.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, our total aggregate liability for all claims relating to the app shall not exceed the amount you actually paid to us for the app in the twelve (12) months immediately preceding the event giving rise to the claim. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations of liability, so some of the above limitations may not apply to you; nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
10. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless TechSmart LLC and its affiliates, officers, employees, and licensors from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses, including reasonable legal fees, arising out of or in any way connected with your use or misuse of the app, the data you store in it, your violation of these Terms, your violation of any applicable law, or your infringement of the rights of any third party.
11. Termination
These Terms are effective until terminated. We may suspend or terminate your access to the app at any time, without notice, if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms or where required by law. You may terminate at any time by deleting the app from your devices (remember to keep a backup or disable 2FA with each service first). Upon termination, the licence granted to you ends immediately; provisions that by their nature should survive termination — including Sections 4 and 6 through 10 — will survive.
12. Changes to These Terms
We may revise these Terms from time to time as the app evolves or as the law requires. When we do, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page, and significant changes may be highlighted in the app. Your continued use of Authenticator App after an update means you accept the revised Terms. If you do not agree to the revised Terms, stop using the app.
13. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction in which TechSmart LLC is established, without regard to its conflict of law principles. If any provision of these Terms is held to be invalid or unenforceable, that provision will be enforced to the maximum extent permissible and the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect. Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms is not a waiver of that right or provision.
