On-device where your iPhone supports it. On recent iPhones and iOS versions, transcription runs entirely on the device — nothing leaves your phone, and it works with no signal at all. Where on-device recognition isn't available for a language or device, the app falls back to Apple's speech recognition service, which needs a connection.

Recordings are saved locally on your device. We don't upload them, we don't have a copy, and we can't listen to them. Delete a recording in the app and it's gone. When transcription needs Apple's speech service for a language your device can't handle on its own, that audio goes to Apple under Apple's privacy policy — never to us. Read the full Privacy Policy.
