How do I scan a document?
Tap the scan / camera button, then point your camera at the page. True Scanner detects the edges and captures automatically, or you can tap the shutter yourself. Scan several pages in a row, then review, reorder and save them as a single document.
My scan looks blurry or the edges are wrong. How do I fix it?
For the sharpest results, scan in good, even lighting on a contrasting surface and hold the phone steady and parallel to the page. If auto-crop misses the edges, open the page and tap Crop to drag the corners to the right spot. A filter like black & white can also make faint text much clearer.
Can I import photos or existing PDFs instead of using the camera?
Yes. Choose Import and pick photos or PDFs from your library. Only the items you select are brought into the app โ€” True Scanner never reads the rest of your library. Imported pages can be cropped, filtered, recognized and exported just like camera scans.
How does text recognition (OCR) work? Does it need the internet?
Open a scanned document and run text recognition. True Scanner uses on-device OCR, so it works without uploading your document and supports many languages. Once a page is recognized, you can select and copy the text, and find the document later by searching its contents.
How do I sign a document?
Open a page and tap Sign. Draw your signature once and save it, then place and resize it anywhere on the page. Note that cropping a page after signing makes the signature permanent, so finish cropping first if you can.
How do I export or share as a PDF or JPG?
Open a document and tap Share or Export. You can share as a single PDF, as JPG images, or as a .ZIP file, and send it by email, message or any app. You can also merge multiple documents into one before exporting.
Why is there a watermark on my exports, and how do I remove it?
The free version adds a small watermark to exported files and limits you to one document share per day. Subscribing to True Scanner PRO removes the watermark (and ads) and gives you unlimited scanning and sharing.
How do I organize my documents into folders?
Documents live under All Files by default, and you can create folders to group them however you like โ€” for example by client, month or project. Move, rename or delete documents and folders any time.
How does iCloud sync work, and is it private?
Sign in to iCloud on your device and enable sync to back up your documents and keep them consistent across your iPhone and iPad. Your files are stored in your own iCloud account (managed by Apple) โ€” we don't host or read them. If you're not signed in to iCloud, your documents simply stay on the current device.
What does True Scanner PRO include?
True Scanner PRO is an auto-renewing subscription that removes ads and the watermark and unlocks unlimited scanning and sharing โ€” the free version is limited to one document share per day. A free trial is offered when available. See the full details in our Terms of Use.
How do I cancel my subscription or free trial?
Go to Settings โ–ธ Apple ID โ–ธ Subscriptions โ–ธ True Scanner โ–ธ Cancel. To avoid being charged when a free trial ends, cancel at least 24 hours before the trial period ends.
How do I restore my purchase?
Open the app and tap Restore Purchases on the PRO / paywall screen. Make sure you're signed in with the same Apple ID you originally used to subscribe.
Why do I see ads, and what is the tracking prompt?
The free version of True Scanner is supported by ads. Subscribing to True Scanner PRO removes them. On first launch you may also see Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt โ€” your choice there only affects whether ads are personalized, and you can change it any time in Settings โ–ธ Privacy & Security โ–ธ Tracking.
The app is acting up or a scan won't open โ€” what should I do?
Try these steps: restart the app, make sure you're on the latest version, and check that True Scanner has camera and photo access in Settings โ–ธ True Scanner. If iCloud sync seems stuck, confirm you're signed in to iCloud and have a network connection. Still stuck? Email us at [email protected] with your device model and iOS version.
